Over the years I have met many inspirational people and been to (not that many) truly inspirational places. People who live out their passions and share their enthusiasm with others. This blog is about those people and places and no doubt others that will be added along the way.
Most of my life is spent in the mountains of the French Alps living in a small alpine hamlet perched high on the mountainside midway between the cosmopolitan waters of Lac Léman and the popular ski resort of Morzine. Weekend getaways are in Burgundy, the most exclusive of French wine regions.
At the heart of this blog are those people and places who seem to embrace welcoming people, who know how to make people feel comfortable. Objects and food that are sophisticated in their simplicity and quality. No excuse will be made for the fact that many of the people are women. The heart of a home is often demonstrated through the woman's hospitality and so it is with many of the people who have inspired me as they share their passions with those around them.
Faith is also an integral part of my life and the Bible so often gives us the words to meet a given situation.
Finally the fig and the vine both present in the garden at our home in Burgundy. In Deuteronomy, the Promised Land is described as "a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; a land where you will eat food without scarcity, in which you will not lack anything;" (Deut. 8 8-10). During Solomon's reign Judah and Israel, lived in safety, each man "under his own vine and fig tree" (1 Kings 4:25).
